I am pleased to at hand this 2008 to 2012 Draft District Plan for Ambunti – Dreikikir District, not only that this document is visible but because of the fact that there was an active contribution from the District and Provincial Administration.

Section 33A (3) (d) of the Organic Law on Provincial and Local Level Government stipulates all the Districts throughout Papua New Guinea to have a five-year development plan. This document is indeed a response to that legal requirement.

East Sepik among the Provinces was selected under the National Development Charter Program to be assisted in the Development of the Five Year Development Plans for the six (6) Districts in the Province.

The 2008 – 2012 Draft District Plan is the result of collective effort of all stake holders working together through the bottom up planning process. What is contained in this document is true and just to address the needs and aspirations of the people of Ambunti – Dreikikir District.

The Plan sets out Strategies, Programs and Projects for Ambunti – Dreikikir District which could be funded under the present appropriation and available funding facilities to the Province from different tiers of Government; National, Provincial and Local Level. The Ambunti - Dreikikir Five Year District Development Plan also sets out the basis for future five year plan to be developed.
